Certainly, and over a running gear of Tacoma Double Cab, engineers of Toyota have wizarded. Firstly, the frame has been redesigned, became lighter and stronger at the expense of use of more high-strength steels. Secondly, the suspension was reconfigured, so it became more comfortable, but did not lose its efficiency on off-road. It is equipped with off-road tires Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Kevlar, shock absorbers FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass with high sensitivity to rod movement, a gearbox, self-locking differential with electronic control, a towing device, oil cooler, power steering cooler, and generator with increased power. Plus, for the most off-road version, there is a manual transmission, together with which you can get the traction control system A-TRAC, working by selective braking of any of the wheels.

The Toyota Tacoma Double Cab engine range has also changed dramatically. In fact, only 2.7-liter V4 (159 hp, 244 Nm) has remained from the second generation. And instead of a 4-liter V6, the pickup received a 3.5-liter “six”, which works on Atkinson’s cycle, with variable valve timing on intake and exhaust, and produces 278 hp of power and 359 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
