The list of power units includes gasoline engines or a “soft” hybrid. Atmospheric 1.5-liter Dynamic Force (the motor from the same TNGA family, which is installed on the Corolla and CH-R) works on the Atkinson’s cycle and produces 125 hp. It works with Direct Shift-CVT transmission (manual first gear and variator) or with the six-speed “manual”. The 1.0-liter 72-horsepower engine is equipped with a simple CVT.

The fourth generation of 2016 Toyota Yaris powertrain combines the already mentioned 1.5-liter motor (here produces 92 hp), 80-horsepower electric motor and starter generator. Peak output of the hybrid unit is 116 horsepower. The lithium-ion battery (which became more compact and lighter than the previous nickel-metal hydride) can provide electrifying drive at speeds up to 130 km/h. Declared fuel consumption (according to the WLTP cycle) is 3.7 l/100 km.
