With migration to the new TNGA (GA-C) platform, Toyota Corolla got lower center of gravity, 60% reinforced body and new multilever rear suspension, which according to the manufacturer should make the car incredibly controllable and very stable while maintaining the same comfort.

The engine lineup was also revised. Only the more powerful 1.6 atomic engine with 132 hp and 160 Nm has remained from the two gasoline engines 1.3 and 1.6. The former 1.4 diesel is finally retired. Now a hybrid consisting of one electric motor (72 hp 163 Nm) and a 1.8 gasoline engine (98 hp 142 Nm) will save fuel. The combined power of this unit is 122 hp, and the average fuel consumption should be 3.4 liters per hundred. There are two transmissions: a six-speed manual and the proprietary Multidrive S variator.
