Incidentally, the fourth generation Prius was the first to be built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) modular platform. As a result, the Prius’s chassis became 60 percent stronger, lighter, and allowed for a lower center of gravity. In addition, the design of the rear suspension is completely changed, where the place of the semi-independent beam was taken by double wishbones. Other interesting facts about the Prius include the 0.24 drag coefficient and 502-liter trunk space without a spare, and 457-liter with a spare.

As for the hybrid power unit, in general, it remains the same as in the third generation Prius, however, Toyota engineers have upgraded almost each of its elements to achieve weight reduction and size reduction, but at the same time to increase the unit efficiency. And you know, Japanese have succeeded! A combination of the 1.8 liter gasoline engine (98 hp and 142 Nm) and electric motor (72 hp and 163 Nm) totally produces up to 150 “horses” of capacity and consumes fuel by 10 percent less than before.
